mateと言えばオーストラリア。

外出時は、いつも音楽を聴いています。
とは言っても、こだわりがあるわけでもなく、Appleさんがオススメしてくださっている曲を聴いている感じです。ですが、あまり日本の曲は聞きません。ほぼ９９％洋楽です。日本の曲は感情移入ができないというか、なに言っているのか良く分からないので、好きではないです（ハイコンテクスト文化の崩壊･･･）

で、最近気になっている曲。

去年の曲ですけどね。

男性目線の失恋ソングなのですが、聴いていたら歌詞に「mate」という単語が！「mate？！この人、絶対Aussieじゃん！」と思って調べたら、やっぱりAussieでした。勝手に親近感。

オーストラリアといえば、mate！ですよ！
有名どころだと「G'day mate」という挨拶でしょうか。ただ、この挨拶はあまり女性は使いません。男性だと使う人が多いですね（あくまでも私の周りでの話ですが）。夏はタンクトップに短パンでVB（Victoria Bitterという有名なビール）を飲みながらBBQしてるオッサンが言うイメージ（笑）

「mate」自体も女性はあまり使わないですね。男友達とかが「Hey, whatta u doing, mate!」みたいな感じで話しかけてきたりします。あとは、やたら親しげな街にいるオッサンとか（笑）ただ女の子が集団でいると「Good morning, Ladies」ときちんと挨拶してくる人、多数（笑）

ちなみに歌詞にも出てくる「can’t」ですが、イギリスやオーストラリアだと「カント」と発音します。アメリカだと「キャント」って言いますね。この曲でも「カント」って発音してるのが分かるので、聴いてみてください。
